I was born in Senegal, at the crossroads of rhythms, cultures, and beliefs, where the sea and the sand have spoken to one another since the beginning of time. My childhood was carried by ancient voices, by melodies that are not really learned, but somehow live within us. Before music became a profession, it was a prayer to me. A way of understanding the world, of feeling what words cannot express, and sometimes, of communicating with the invisible. At an early age, I left this land for Germany, and later for the United States. Two continents, two cultures, two different ways of seeing the world and listening to silence. There, I learned discipline, rigor, and precision. But above all, I came to understand something essential: whatever the language, culture, or technology, the essence of sound remains profoundly human. My journey gave me the opportunity to cross paths and work alongside remarkable artists. Every encounter, every studio, every stage became a school. But with time, I realized that the greatest lesson would come from returning home. Returning to Senegal meant returning to the source. In Dakar, I founded LaBoutique Studio, a space dedicated to creative freedom—a place where sound is not simply produced, but imagined, felt, and lived. This is where I chose to put down my roots, to create, and to pass on what all those years had taught me: patience in sound, truth in a voice, the importance of listening, and the beauty of silence. Leaving taught me about the world. Coming home taught me who I am. I believe our roots are not chains, but wings. They do not confine us to who we once were. They simply remind us where we come from, so that we may give greater meaning to where we are going. And perhaps, in the end, everything begins with this: All it takes is belief… Even when believing is not easy.
